General Questions
What is your photography style?
My style can be described as a combination of documentary and fine art. I specialize in natural light photography, focusing on vibrant, authentic moments. My goal is to create timeless documentary style images that reflect your unique personality and story.
Do you offer custom packages?
Yes! While I have standard packages for weddings, portraits, and family sessions, I’m happy to work with you to create a custom package that fits your specific needs.
How far in advance should I book?
For weddings, I recommend booking at least 6–12 months in advance to secure your date. For portrait sessions, booking 4–6 weeks ahead is ideal, especially during busy seasons. However, we accept short-notice bookings if they fit within our schedule.
Do You Help with Posing?
Absolutely! I totally get the feeling of being awkward or unphotogenic—I feel the same way sometimes! But that’s where I come in. I’ll guide you through poses that feel natural and flattering, and we’ll have fun in the process. Honestly, you might even catch me striking a pose while taking your photos to show you exactly what to do. It’s all part of the experience!
Logistics
How long does a session last?
Portrait sessions typically last 1–2 hours, depending on the package you choose. Wedding coverage can range from 3-9 hours. I’ll help you choose the right option for your needs.
Do you travel for sessions? Is there a travel fee?
Yes, I’m happy to travel! Travel within 30 miles of Olympia is included in my pricing. For locations farther away, a travel fee may apply, which we’ll discuss during the booking process. Wedding packages include 50-250 miles depending on the package.
What happens if it rains on the day of my outdoor session?
I love to photograph in the elements, but we want everyone to feel and look comfortable, so I keep an eye on the weather leading up to your session. If the forecast shows drastic weather closer to the date, we’ll work together to choose a more covered location or reschedule if needed.
Booking and Payment
How do I book a session?
Booking is easy! Just fill out the contact form on my website or email me at Karinalynphoto@gmail.com. Once we discuss your needs, I’ll send over a contract and invoice. A non-refundable retainer of 50% is required to secure your date.
I do have payment plans if needed
What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
I understand that life happens! If you need to reschedule, I’ll do my best to accommodate you but please let me know as soon as you know you'll need to postpone it. Deposits are non-refundable, but I’ll apply it to your rescheduled session if we rebook within 1 month.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept payments via debit and credit card, Venmo, Cash App. Full payment is required before the session.
Deliverables
How many photos will I receive?
For portrait sessions, you can expect 10-50 fully edited images depending on the package you choose, and more images can be purchased after the session.
Wedding galleries typically include 100-500 images, depending on the length of coverage.
How will I get my images?
You'll receive your images through an online gallery
Do you offer prints or albums?
Yes, I offer a range of high-quality prints, canvases, and custom-designed albums. You’ll have the option to order these directly from your gallery.
I’m Not Sure I Want an Engagement/Family/Etc. Session
I understand—it can feel daunting to step in front of the camera. But here’s the thing: time is going to pass regardless, and these moments are worth capturing. Having photos to look back on is such a gift, not just for you, but for your loved ones. Your future self (and your family) will cherish the memories we create together. Let's make it fun, relaxed, and something you'll treasure forever!
What should I wear for a session?
What Should I Wear?
Choosing the right outfit can make a big difference in how your photos turn out! Here are some tips to help you feel confident and look amazing:
-
Stick to Neutral or Complementary Colors: Soft tones and earthy hues tend to photograph beautifully and keep the focus on you rather than your clothing.
-
Avoid Clashing Patterns and Colors: Unless bold patterns are part of your personal style, opt for solid colors or subtle patterns to avoid distractions.
-
Wear Something Fun and Comfortable: Pick an outfit that makes you feel like you! When you feel good, it shows in your photos.
-
Avoid Constricting Clothing: Tight or overly fitted clothes can create harsh lines or discomfort, which might be noticeable in your photos.
-
Coordinate, Don’t Match: If you're taking group or couple photos, choose outfits that complement each other without being identical.
-
Accessorize Thoughtfully: Simple accessories like a hat, scarf, or jewelry can add personality to your look without overpowering the image.
